Extreme weather events in western Canada pose life-threatening dangers to the most vulnerable, particularly those with disabilities

In recent months, British Columbia and other areas of western Canada have been hit by multiple extreme weather events, from the “heat dome” to flooding to the “cold wave.” These events demonstrate the increasingly extreme weather patterns we can expect to see more frequently as climate change worsens. These erratic and devastating events post particular problems for vulnerable populations, particularly those with disabilities.
